Built to last: Xcel Energy’s approach to 7F gas turbine reliability

Wednesday, December 2, 2026

The 7F.03 gas turbine is one of the most widely deployed units in the F-class fleet, and much of that fleet is now more than 25 years into service. Intensified cycling, tighter outage windows, and rising grid demands have changed the risk profile for aging units. Hidden degradation in compressors, gas control valves, and exhaust frames doesn’t announce itself. By the time it does, the cost far exceeds what a planned upgrade would have required.

Join GE Vernova experts and Xcel Energy’s fleet engineering team for a first-hand look at how to build a structured reliability upgrade program, and what can be seen from it.

During this session, we will examine the benefits unlocked when reliability upgrades and outage planning work together:

  • UNCOVER hidden degradation before it becomes a forced outage event.
  • INTEGRATE proven upgrades into your planned outage windows.
  • BUILD a multi-outage reliability program using inspection data, operating history, and commercial logic to sequence upgrades by outage type.
